I am saddened by the comments that are saying bus them out to another county and make them handle it. How does that help? Stop feeding them? Doesn’t the Bible talk about caring for those in need? Isn’t there a story in the Bible about Jesus feeding the multitude with a few pieces of bread and fish? Pittsburg is using “laws” to confront the homeless problems? How is locking them up helping? I suppose they will get three hots and a cot- so that would help- but what about rehabilitation? We need system wide changes. The article talks about individual who are homeless because they were released from jail, but how many of our homeless population are veterans? How many of them lost their house because they couldn’t afford home repairs? How many are homeless due to mental health issues? How many of them are homeless because their landlord raised their rent by 30% or more without making improvement/ repairs to their tenets homes?
