The startup is called Cerebras Systems, which has been developing iPad-sized processors called the Wafer Scale Engine. On Tuesday, it announced a service that’ll let customers use its chips for their own AI programs. The main difference is that Cerebras claims its technology can run generative AI programs up to 20 times faster but at one-fifth the cost of Nvidia GPUs, such as the H100, an AI processor widely used in the industry.
