I'm troubled by what they are calling human trafficking, which is not the same as simply being smuggled into the country illegally. Trafficking is a nasty business that involves perpetrators preying on unwilling victims for either forced labor or sex. Smuggling is often by "coyotes", people who get paid by people to bring them into the country by their own free will. Even though that's not always on the up and up, and people are victimized in the process all the time, it is not by definition "human smuggling". Notice the lack of mention about the victims or the smugglers and what specific crimes they are charged with. I don't believe those were all human smuggling operations by cartels, and to use that term cheapens the meaning, and the harms their victims suffer.
