( NewsNation ) — People getting Social Security benefits can look forward to multiple payments in the last few months of the year — with an extra one for some in both August and November.

Social Security checks are paid to people depending on when they were born.

    • Those born on the 1st through the 10th of the month are paid on the second Wednesday of the month
    • Those whose birthday falls on the 11th through the 20th get Social Security on the third Wednesday of the month
    • People born after the 20th get paid on the fourth Wednesday

Exceptions include children and spouses who receive benefits based on someone else’s work record. They get paid on the same day as the primary beneficiary.

If someone filed for benefits before May 1, 1997; their Medicare premiums are paid for by the state where they live; they receive a Supplemental Security Income payment; or they live in a foreign country, they could also get their payments on the 3rd of each month. People getting SSI payments because of disability, age or blindness should expect to receive them on the 1st.

Payments falling on a federal holiday or weekend will be issued on the weekday immediately before.

    Social Security schedule

    August

Payments are going out on Aug. 14, 21 and 28, with Supplemental Security Income set to arrive on Aug. 28 and 30.

    September

    October

Payments are going out on Oct. 9, 16 and 23, with Supplemental Security income coming in on the 1st as usual.

    November

Payments are going out on Nov. 13, 20 and 27, with Supplemental Security income coming in both on the 1st and 29th. The extra payment is because December 1st is on a Sunday this year.

    December

Payments are going out on Dec. 11, 18 and 24, with Supplemental Security income arriving on the 31st. The 1st of January would be a holiday — New Year’s Day.
