(NEXSTAR) — Right now, Paris is in the spotlight . But in just four years, Los Angeles will be hosting the world’s biggest multi-sport event.

“It’s funny because we’re all about Paris right now, but the day those closing ceremonies happen for the Olympics and the Paralympics, all eyes are on [Los Angeles] and Paris in the rear-view mirror.

“So we know we’re next,” Janet Evans, the five-time Olympic medalist serving as the chief athlete officer for the 2028 games, told Nexstar.

As an experienced host city, Los Angeles’ Olympic venues (including two that are more than 1,300 miles away ) are already set. Organizers are also aware the city will have to accommodate more than 16,500 Olympians and Paralympians , as well as their coaches, trainers, and families.

Will breaking be at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles?

But what about spectators? If you’re hoping to attend the Los Angeles Olympics, there’s only so much you can do for now.

You can load up on merchandise for the Games, but as for purchasing tickets, you’re out of luck — at least for now.

The LA28 Organizing Committee announced in February that AXS and CTS Eventim will serve as the ticketing service providers for the Games. Neither has tickets for the Los Angeles Olympics available as of Monday.

Based on ticket sales for the Paris Olympics and the 2026 Winter Olympics, set to be held in Italy, it may be a while before you’re able to purchase tickets for LA28.

Organizers for the Paris Olympics allowed interested fans the opportunity to win priority access to tickets before opening the draw for access to ticket packages in December 2022, roughly a year and a half before the games began. According to a press release from July 2022, ticket packages went on sale in February 2023.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics allowed hopeful attendees to register for its ticketing platform and “secure a priority spot” to purchase tickets in June.

This guarantees fans will be assigned a time to purchase tickets in a lottery format. The last chance to enter that lottery is in January.

Ticket sales for the Olympics will begin this coming February, with ticket sales for the Paralympics scheduled to start a month later (there is no lottery for Paralympics tickets).

Come April, the remaining tickets will be available to those who didn’t participate in the first phase.

If LA28 follows the trend of making tickets available roughly a year before the Games kick off, that means you may not be able to secure yours until the summer of 2027.

The official website for the Los Angeles Olympics doesn’t have an option just yet to sign up for ticketing alerts, but it does invite you to sign up for its newsletter.

For now, it’s a waiting game if you want to attend the L.A. Games — you currently can’t book a hotel room (at least on Hotels.com or Expedia ) or flights (based on Google Flights ) beyond 2025, or 2026 with some hotel brands .

And in case you’re wondering, no, tickets for the 2034 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City aren’t on sale yet either. The Summer Olympics will come to Los Angeles in July 2028.
