BOSTON ( WPRI ) — Former NFL player and Boston College standout Gosder Cherilus was arrested after allegedly causing a disturbance during a flight early Sunday morning.

State police say a Delta Airlines plane was heading to Dublin, Ireland, when it rerouted back to Boston Logan International Airport around 2 a.m. after Cherilus allegedly urinated on a passenger on board.

Troopers boarded the plane and told Cherilus to get off, but he “became irate and uncooperative.”

The 40-year-old was eventually arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing a flight crew, state police said.

Passengers onboard the canceled flight continued to Dublin on a different flight.

Delta’s website cites the Federal Aviation Administration’s Unruly Passenger Policy, which reads, “For everyone’s safety, federal regulations require that customers follow all crewmember instructions and prohibits the interference with crew duties. Such actions are strictly prohibited and may result in civil or criminal penalties for interfering, assaulting or intimidating crewmembers or any other individuals.”

Cherilus was the 17th overall pick in the 2008 draft and played nine seasons in the NFL. The former offensive tackle started 116 of 132 games for the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers and retired after the 2016 season.

He was expected to be arraigned in court Monday.
