( NewsNation ) — The University of Idaho plans to honor the students who were killed in 2022 with a ceremony at the new Vandal Healing Garden on Wednesday afternoon.

Nameplates inscribed with the names of Xana Kernodle, Ethan Chapin, Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen will be unveiled at the ceremony.

According to the university, students in the College of Art and Architecture Design-Build Program will lead the dedication ceremony of the memorial. The ceremony will take place at MacLean Field at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 21.

At the end of the event, attendees can write notes of remembrance and leave them on the memorial site.

Lawyers are currently pushing for the trial of Bryan Kohberger, the man charged with the 2022 killings of the University of Idaho students, to be moved to a different county. They argue the change will result in a fairer trial.
