( NewsNation ) —  Former President Donald Trump’s golf courses have enjoyed good reputations in the golfing community but come at a hefty price. And soon, his course in Scotland will become the most expensive course on earth.

The Trump Organization will charge $1,296 to play a round before 1 pm at Trump Turnberry’s Ailsa Course. After 1 pm, it’s slightly cheaper at $706. Until now, the fee for a round was $228.

Turnberry says the morning price hike is to help ensure there are tee times for guests of the resort. Turnberry is considered one of the top five golf courses in the world.

“We were finding that a lot of people were booking up tee times during the peak times of the year but only came to play golf and then left,” Turnberry’s general manager Nic Oldham told the golf magazine Bunkered.

Oldham also said they don’t expect to see many tee times at that price because it’s a much better value to stay at the resort under a package that includes both a room and golf.

“That’s better for the golfer because they’re getting a full five-star experience, but it’s also better for Turnberry. We need to make sure all parts of our business are viable. Simply selling rounds of golf isn’t a sustainable business model,” Oldham added.

The new morning green fee, effective next year, will make Turnberry the most expensive course in the world, edging the $1,250 fee at Las Vegas’ Shadow Creek club .

According to government ethics disclosure documents released earlier this year, Trump Turnberry earned $33.5 million from January of 2023 through July of 2024. The same documents say the Trump Organization earned a total of $513 million from its U.S. golf clubs and resorts.

But Trump owes hundreds of millions in legal fees and damages from the three civil lawsuits in New York that he lost.
