SAN ANTONIO, Tex. (WFLA) — A simple outfit choice has sparked an online debate after a woman shared that she was sent home from a job interview for wearing shorts.

In a video posted to TikTok earlier this month, a woman job hunting in the San Antonio, Texas area said she was turned away by a recruiter for her outfit.

Tyreshia said that when she showed up for her interview, the recruiter decided to reschedule the interview, asking her if she wanted to change and come back.

“I cannot believe the recruiter asked me to change my interview clothes then come back,” she captioned her video.

Tyreshia gave a 360-degree view of her outfit in the video, showing the shorts she wore to the interview, which has brought forth debate about office attire.

“I look very neat and professional, so no!” the woman said.

Despite her stance, many users grilled her in the comments, saying as a manager or recruiter, they would’ve told her the same thing.

“I would not hire you wearing this…I would have offered you a new interview as well but would have been a hard pass on you for this,” a user said.

Another wrote, “HR here…the fact they allowed you to change and have a redo says a lot. It would have been an immediate no here.”

One TikToker even commented that their school used the woman’s video to discuss their school-appropriate dress code.

This candidate is very naive when it comes to what’s acceptable in a professional environment and what it means to be professional; compounded with the fact that she doesn’t seem to be teachable. The fact that she was extended the invitation to reschedule as she changed her attire is huge!!! The light bulb still didn’t come on. I agree with some others, I’m not sure I would’ve extended her another opportunity and based on her response, good for the company. This could be a headache avoided. Some folks learn the hard way!
