( NewsNation ) —  Former Secret Service agent Donald Lane said he’s supportive of the bipartisan congressional task force investigating the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump.

“A lot can be learned,” Land said on “ Elizabeth Vargas Reports .” “It’s one thing to see it on television, but being on the ground allows you to stand in the place that Trump was, be on top of the roof. … It lends a lot more credibility to the questions asked. … I think it’s really important they did that.”

This visit to Butler, Pennsylvania, on Monday, just over six weeks after the shooting, comes as Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., accused the FBI and Secret Service of not cooperating with the task force’s investigation .

The task force, led by Chairman Mike Kelly, R-Pa., and ranking member Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo., assessed the Butler Farm Show grounds, the site where the attempted assassination took place.

The task force will meet with local officials to discuss the security lapses that allowed the attacker to get close to the former president.

Since the attempted assassination, the U.S. Secret Service has placed several members of its Pittsburgh field office on administrative leave, according to multiple reports.

Three unnamed “sources in the Secret Service community” told RealClearPolitics that members of the Pittsburgh office are on leave, while agents who were part of Trump’s permanent security detail remain on the job.

At least five U.S. Secret Service officials involved in planning the rally are now on leave, ABC reported, citing two unnamed sources. The officials are still working but in a different capacity that does not include security planning, according to ABC .

“You would think it would have been a little sooner, given the gravity of the situation,” Lane added.
