NEW FRANKLIN , Ohio (WJW) – A child reported missing at the Portage Lakes State Park was found in approximately four feet of water and did not survive, according to the New Franklin Fire Department.

According to a press release signed by the chief, at about 2:30 p.m. on Friday, first responders were called to the park’s swim beach.

“While it was believed that the child was not in the water, fire personnel, along with the assistance of volunteers, initiated a human chain to search and clear the swim water,” read the release.”
