BROOKLYN (PIX11) – An assailant punched a 71-year-old man in the face in Brooklyn Tuesday evening, police said.

Officers from the 60th precinct received a 911 call for an assault at 7:30 p.m. Police say the male victim was walking near 2250 West 11th Street when an unidentified individual approached him and began a verbal dispute with the victim.

At one point, a physical fight began, and the unknown assailant punched the victim in the face and forcibly removed the victim’s walking cane. The victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries. He is expected to recover, police said.

The assailant, who is described as a man, fled the location on foot to parts unknown. He was last seen wearing a black tank top and gray pants.
