Kentucky shooting: Authorities no closer to finding suspect

( NewsNation ) — Authorities in Kentucky are no closer to finding shooting suspect Joseph Couch, 32, three days after he allegedly shot at 12 vehicles on Interstate 75.

Couch is still believed to be eluding authorities within the woodlands of southern Kentucky, but there is no sign of his whereabouts as of Tuesday afternoon’s press conference.

Kentucky State Trooper Scottie Pennington addressed the media for the second consecutive day, reiterating the difficulty in covering the area.

He reassured citizens that Couch was still being hunted and urged them to stay away from the Rockcastle River area in case he is still alive. The manhunt now has a greater aerial presence thanks to outside agencies.

Five people were shot and wounded during Saturday’s attack on the I-75, but none of the victims are suffering from life-threatening injuries.

In an erratic 911 call, a man can be heard telling the operator his car was shot at and at least one woman had been wounded.

As was the case Monday, authorities are hoping Couch gives himself up due to a lack of water or food.

The FBI, ATF, and Kentucky State Police are all involved in the search. He was not previously familiar with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

There is now a $25,000 reward for information relating to Couch.
