CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Camp Pendleton Marine Lance Corporal Bailey Cameron, who went missing in late August and was then considered to be in “a desertion status” by military officials, has been apprehended, the military base confirmed Wednesday.

The 23-year-old was reported missing on Aug. 25 following a night out at the Coyote Bar and Grill in Carlsbad the night prior. Video shows Cameron leaving the bar without his backpack, sunglasses and phone.

After his disappearance, there were unconfirmed sightings of him around the Camp Pendleton base. Last Wednesday, military officials said Cameron was no longer considered a missing person.

In an update a week later, the Marine Corps said Cameron was located and detained by the Provost Marshall’s Office at Camp Pendleton. His parents have been notified of his current situation.

“The Marine Corps is committed to ensuring the welfare of all its service members while upholding the highest standards of accountability. Due to the ongoing nature of the case, further details regarding potential administrative or legal actions cannot be disclosed at this time,” stated Capt. James C. Sartain with Marine Corps Installations West.

No further details surrounding this case have been released at this time.

FOX 5’s  Domenick Candelieri contributed to this report.
