    Car crashes into 300-pound bear in Connecticut

    EAST LYME, Conn. (WTNH) — East Lyme police say a car sustained damage after a collision with a bear Wednesday.

    The incident happened on Chesterfield Road, in the area of Winston Road.

    Police said the driver- a local East Lyme resident- was not injured, but the vehicle was towed due to the amount of damage.

    Witnesses told police they saw the bear running down Winston Road after the incident.

    Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection officials responded to the scene. The bear was not located.

    It was estimated to be about 300 pounds, according to witnesses.
