"That’s why I left when I saw a Cybertruck charging before me". Whether you like it or not, the Tesla Cybertruck is starting to appear more frequently throughout the U.S. as production of the electric car continues. A lot of Tesla owners who, for various reasons, can't charge their cars at home will rely on nearby Superchargers to keep their vehicles running. However, it's important to be cautious when charging next to a Cybertruck, as one Tesla owner has cautioned.

These advanced and quick-recharge hubs, essentially the modern equivalent of a conventional gas station for high-tech vehicles, could offer a unique experience to drivers if they decide to charge alongside a more powerful Cybertruck, as experienced by a Tesla owner.

In a popular video that went viral on TikTok, user @1motatt shared an incident where his Tesla's estimated charging time skyrocketed to more than five hours after a Cybertruck arrived at the charging spot. The video, which has received over 1.2 million views, displays his Tesla app showing the extended charging duration.

“About to be here all day,” the video is captioned.

How long does it take a Tesla to charge?

But how quickly should a Tesla charge normally take? The response might be unexpected—and help understand the poster's surprise and annoyance better. According to the Tesla website, Supercharger stations such as the one his car is at are designed to fill a car with up to 200 miles of battery capacity in roughly 15 minutes.

However, older Supercharger stations may not be able to provide the same level of charging power as newer ones. Unless they are the Supercharger V3, when multiple vehicles are plugged in at the station, they will effectively split the charging power, prolonging the amount of time it will take to fully juice up the vehicles.

So, @1motatt’s slowed experience isn’t particular to the Cybertruck next to him—any Tesla vehicle would split the charging power on an older Supercharger station.

    Commenters rail against Tesla

Several viewers expressed their thoughts on the video, mentioning that the dependence on chargers, as demonstrated in the video, was a major reason they decided not to buy a Tesla.

“When I'm pumping gas in my Tacoma, I never have this issue when 2500 pulls up next to be to fill up too,” one commenter wrote.

“With my gas truck, I can fill it up in 1 minute and get back on the road no problem!” another said.

“I paid 47 cents a gallon with my fuel saver yesterday,” a further user wrote. “Took less than 2 minutes.”

Other viewers, suggesting they had knowledge of Teslas or even had one themselves, suggested that the Cybertruck's charging issues might not have been solely to blame for the prolonged charging period.

“I charge my cyber all the time 20-30min full charge,” one commented. “If on the road, I make a plan of lunch near a good charger, plug it in, grab lunch, walk out, leave. Easy.”

“The cyber truck charges to 80 percent in 40 minutes,” a third added. “80 percent battery for the lowest form of the truck is almost 300 miles.”
