TikTok trends are just part of our lives now. Unfortunately, they may also be part of our deaths.

TikToker The Clean Girl’s specialty is, well, cleaning things. She cleans discarded stuffed animals, she cleans toilets, she cleans tires, and, perhaps a little too frequently, she cleans graves—all without being asked by anyone.

Why is a TikToker cleaning gravestones in cemeteries?

In that regard, what's her method for tidying up burial sites? She uses a secretive pink DIY cleaning solution that somehow makes me suspicious it might be inappropriate for contact with human flesh.

In case you haven’t seen an example of her work, here’s a taste:

For some, this is an extremely noble task, giving some much-needed TLC to long-neglected resting places that have likely gone untouched for decades and even centuries.

In fact, the Clean Girl’s cryptic pink-goo cleaning spree has inspired many across social media to do the same, spiffing up often incredibly historic gravestones for the modern age.

Social media speaks out on grave-cleaning practice

Nonetheless, numerous individuals on social media find this entire situation to be quite troublesome. Firstly, the act of The Clean Girl (and her imitators) cleaning these graves without permission from the families is highly problematic. Additionally, there seems to be no logical or consistent criteria for selecting these graves, other than their condition of disrepair.

    As TikToker @hopeyoufindyourdad points out:

“Every single one of these woman’s clickbait grave cleaning videos is extremely disrespectful to these graves and their loved ones.” She then proceeds to give The Clean Girl one crispy roasting:

A TikTok user @findyourdad highlights that The Clean Girl is solely focused on promoting her cleaning item and shows no hesitation in taking advantage of someone's deceased family member for this purpose. It's difficult to dispute.

Moreover, a Reddit post on Cemetery Porn Reddit, that The Clean Girl and her associates are observed employing home cleaning products, which include substances that might harm the stone, especially if it's crafted from marble.

However, if you really want to go out and clean some gravestones yourself, there’s a right way to do it, as historic archaeologist Robin Lacy explains below.

    Happy cleaning, you bored weirdos!

It's nice she's cleaning up graves but I would get permission first. Duh, 🙄

I would say as family is notified and the authorities there should be no problem
