The University of Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young has been put on indefinite suspension.

Georgia's head coach Kirby Smart made the announcement of Young's suspension during a SEC coaches meeting with journalists on Wednesday.

Law enforcement apprehended Young early in the morning on allegations of harming an unborn baby and physically attacking another person. Court documents indicate that these accusations are considered minor offenses.

According to a report from the Athens-Clarke County police, Young and his former partner were involved in a severe dispute following her accusation that he was conversing with another woman.

The former partner of Young claimed that he "suddenly grabbed her from behind" and "picked her up, then started to forcefully squeeze her chest and belly."

Young maintained his innocence regarding any physical harm inflicted on the woman. He was released from jail just after 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

Young, a senior who transferred from the University of Miami, has 11 receptions and two touchdowns across 5 games with the Bulldogs this season.

Young is the latest UGA player to be arrested this year. Most of the other arrests have been driving-related.

Channel 2 Action News has reached out to the UGA Athletic Department and the university for a statement on their arrest.

The Bulldogs host Mississippi State on Saturday before they travelling to Austin the following week for a matchup with the No. 1 Texas Longhorns.
