    Bystander Brutally Assaulted With Beer Bottle at Fort Myers Gas Station

    Fort Myers, FL - A man has been arrested after brutally assaulting a bystander with a beer bottle at a Southwest Florida gas station on Monday.

    Lee County Sheriff's deputies responded to a brutal assault at the Gulf Gas Station on Palm Beach Boulevard on Monday.

    The victim was found bleeding from the head and treated for lacerations requiring stitches.

    According to deputies, upon arrival, they found the victim on the ground with a head wound.

    Through witness statements and surveillance footage, investigators identified 34-year-old Jose Vargas as the attacker.

    The video reportedly showed Vargas initiating the confrontation, grabbing the victim by the shirt, and ultimately using a beer bottle as a weapon.

    The victim appeared to defend himself before Vargas kicked him in the head and fled the scene.

    The injured individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

    Vargas was apprehended and faces charges of aggravated battery.

    He is currently being held at the Lee County Jail.
