There may be slightly good news when it comes to the rest of the hurricane season.

Colorado State University experts have actually reduced the number of named storms from 25 back to the 23 they initially forecast before the season started.

However, they're maintaining their projections of 12 hurricanes and six of them becoming at least Category 3s.

They say sea surface temperatures in the tropical Atlantic and Caribbean remain near record highs and La Nina is still anticipated for the peak of the season.

The scientists say there's a 56% chance at least one major hurricane will hit the continental U.S. coastline, with a 38% chance of the Gulf Coast from the Florida Panhandle to Brownsville, Texas.
