High Odds Atlantic System Will Become Tropical Depression/Storm

(Miami, FL) -- The National Hurricane Center says the summer's next tropical storm may be developing in the Atlantic. Forecasters say the system has become more active and is now located in the central tropical Atlantic.

The storm's next move would be a general west-northwest move over parts of the Greater Antilles that may involve Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The National Hurricane Center gives the system a 60-percent chance of development in the next two days and 80-percent in the next seven.

If it were to strengthen into a named system, it could become Tropical Storm Ernesto.

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Puerto Rico, Vieques, and Culebra.
