It's back to school today for kids in Palm Beach County through the Treasure Coast.

All high schools in Palm Beach County now have metal detectors that students have to walk through to get onto campus. There's been no word of any issues this morning and School District Police Chief Sarah Mooney says the devices were actually on all high school campuses by the end of the last school year, so all of the kinks have been worked out. Still, kids who are new to using the detectors may want to give themselves a few extra minutes to be sure they make it to class on time.

Meanwhile, law enforcement officials are reminding drivers to watch their speed in school zones. Boynton Beach Police and other local agencies will have officers out in 'full force' all week to ensure children get to and from their schools safely.

You're reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in school zones. And watch for school buses on the roads today. Drivers who speed past an extended stop arm can face a $371 fine and points on your license.
