West Palm Beach City leaders are considering a proposal from the prestigious Vanderbilt University to bring a graduate campus to the downtown area.

The $520 million campus would be built at the corner of Evernia and Fern Streets.

The City Commission last night approved a plan to sell the land that would become the campus if the plan moves forward. Officials from the Nashville-based Vanderbilt will share more with the city tonight regarding the economics of the proposal.

The President and CEO of the Palm Beach County Business Development Board says the private university will spend about 100 million dollars a year in operating expenses alone, so Kelly Smallridge calls it a 'great way to attract additional companies to the area.'
