More Than 300 Cell Phones Confiscated From Martin County Students So Far

Nearly 300 wireless devices were confiscated from Martin County students during the first week of school. According to the school district, that number had climbed from 270 to 316 through Monday.

It's the result of a new policy that forbids students from using devices anywhere in school, not just in class.

The majority of the phones confiscated were done so at the county's three high schools, with some also being taken from students at the middle schools in the district.

Under the policy, parents would need to pick up the device after school.

Students who consistently violate the policy can face suspension.
