We continue with the story of dozens of cats that are at risk of being in a construction zone.

The strays have been living in a large field behind a shopper center at Lantana and Jog Roads for close to 20 years. They've been cared for by Michelle Collister and the others at " For the Love of Grace Animal Rescue ," but now her team has been trying to trap the cats to get them to a sanctuary in North Florida.

"But we're trying to raise donations in order to help in the process. We're trying to get trappers to help us to remove the cats. We need to build enclosures for the cats, because we have about 50 of them there left on the property."

The owner of the property has posted signs that the land will be developed, but Michelle doesn't know when that work begins and wants to have those cats pulled away in time.

The only information the property management team would tell us is that development on the land is in its early stages with no specific construction start date.

Michelle says caring for the cats that she has already rescued is getting costly

"We've only taken a few of the cats to the vet and because they're all mostly elderly, we have two of them that so far need mostly dental cleaning, that cost $800. One of them was diagnosed with cancer, needed surgery."

While the nonprofit continues to work on getting all of those cats off the property, you can help by contributing to the GoFundMe page .
