Political Sign Theft Escalates Across Several South Florida Communities

Plantation, FL - Residents from various South Florida neighborhoods have reported an uptick in incidents of political sign theft across the region.

Over the weekend, several incidents were reported in the Jacaranda Lakes neighborhood of Plantation, where residents claim individuals were caught on camera removing signs, including one that read, "Democracy is on the ballot — vote for Kamala Harris."

In a separate incident in the same neighborhood, a resident confronted the group responsible for the theft and managed to recover their sign, along with several others found stuffed inside a backpack.

Police say these incidents are not isolated to Plantation or any specific political party.

Lior Weiss, a Coconut Grove resident, told Local 10 his neighborhood has experienced similar incidents, with his Trump signs being stolen twice.

Weiss tells Local 10 he set up a camera outside his home that captured "an individual riding a bicycle, knowing exactly where he’s going, stopping, taking the banners, not knowing that he’s being recorded. It looks like he’s moving to the next sign.”

Authorities have been alerted to the thefts and an investigation is ongoing.
