    Supreme Court Justice Releases Memoir

    A woman who grew up in Miami and made history when she was appointed to the Supreme Court is sharing her story.

    Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson has a new book called Lovely One .

    The 53-year-old is the first Black woman on the court.

    She says being first is a sign of progress, but the goal is to be in a society where we're no longer recognizing 'firsts' because it's not necessary.

    Jackson credits her parents for her perseverance, and she says so much of success in life is believing you can do it.

    She also says she wants to teach her daughters to dream big and follow through.

    Jurist Learned Hand was visiting Washington and went to lunch with Justice Holmes. They walked back to the Capitol. The Court was still sitting there in the Old Senate Chamber. As they parted, Hand called, "Sir, do justice." Holmes turned on him fiercely, eyebrows bristling: "Justice? What's that? That's none of my business. That is not my job. It is my job to apply the law. Law is my business." It is for the people through our Representatives to decide what are just laws and should be enacted.
