The Martin County Commission wants to renegotiate its deal with Brightline.

Today's move came after Stuart city commissioners last night voted to rescind its agreements with Brightline and the county to build a train station downtown.

The vote came amid concerns about $30 million that could be covered by taxpayers.

County commissioners were supposed to vote on the train station today, but made a motion to pull the item off the agenda and attempt to re-work the deal with both the high-speed rail line and Stuart leaders.

Brightline first announced in March that it had chosen the city for its Treasure Coast station.
