Fort Lauderdale, FL - The U.S. Coast Guard successfully offloaded a massive drug haul at Port Everglades on Monday.

A Coast Guard cutter seized over 4,000 pounds of cocaine in the Caribbean Sea, with an estimated street value of $54 million.

The seizure was the result of three separate interdictions by the Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations, and Britain’s Royal Navy.

    Eleven smugglers were also apprehended.

The Coast Guard emphasized the importance of these operations in combating drug trafficking organizations and protecting the people of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In a separate operation, federal agents arrested 27 individuals, including a South Florida boat racing team owner, in a major cocaine trafficking bust.
