Miami Beach, FL - According to a recent report by SafeHome.org, Miami Beach holds the unfortunate title of Florida's leader in property theft.

The report analyzed crime data from the FBI and found Miami Beach's property crime rate to be a staggering 8,557 incidents per 100,000 residents as of 2022.

This is significantly higher than the state's average of 1,566 per 100,000 residents.

The report also highlights the positive trend of Miami Beach's crime rates decreasing considerably compared to their peak in the 1970s and 80s.

Nationally, Florida ranks 36th for property crime, with the overall U.S. rate sitting at 1,954 per 100,000 residents.

The city with the lowest property crime rate in Florida is Sneads, boasting a rate of only 229 incidents per 100,000 residents.

The report defines property theft as a category encompassing larceny, theft, burglary, and motor vehicle theft.

Larceny reigns supreme as the most frequent property crime in Florida, with an estimated 1,255 incidents per 100,000 residents.

The report acknowledges a limitation in the data: it only covers 31% of Florida's population.

This means the true picture of crime rates might be slightly different.
