Mayor Of Royal Palm Beach Dies Suddenly

A Palm Beach County mayor has died suddenly.

The Village of Royal Palm Beach has confirmed that Mayor Fred Pinto has died.

His family first announced it over the weekend on social media, but did not give a cause of death for the 73-year-old.

Pinto was born in Harlem, New York and had been living in Royal Palm Beach for over 25 years. He first won a seat on the Village Council in 2003 and became mayor in 2016, having been just re-elected to another term last March.

The village says Vice Mayor Jeff Hmara will take over as acting-mayor.
