Two charges have been filed against the man arrested for allegedly pointing an AK-style rifle at former President Trump while he golfed at his West Palm Beach club yesterday.

58-year old Ryan Routh is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said yesterday that Trump did not have the same protection as when he was president, but clarified that today.

"He was at a very high level. In fact, at Mar-a-Lago right now, he's got the same protection at Mar-a-Lago (that) he had when he was the sitting president."

But the sheriff says that it would have been "almost impossible" to surround the entire golf course, which is a half mile long on each of the four sides.

Secret Service agents opened fire after spotting a weapon poking through a fence.

Routh was later arrested on I-95 in Martin County.

Deputy bodycam video of that arrest has been released by the Martin County Sheriff's Office.

Meanwhile, we're learning more about the suspect.

According to reports, Routh wrote a book he self-published last year titled "Ukraine's Unwinnable War," and in it urged Iran to kill the former president.

The following text appears in the book in which he admits to voting for Trump in 2016:

'I must take part of the blame for the retarded child we elected for our next president that ended up being brainless, but I am man enough to say that I misjudged and made a terrible mistake and Iran I apologize,' he said, referring to the former president abandoning the nuclear deal with Tehran.

He goes on to write 'You are free to assassinate Trump as well as me for that error in judgment and the dismantling of the deal."
