Parents who took part in the Florida Prepaid program are getting some money back, according to Governor Ron DeSantis who was in Orlando yesterday to announce the refunds.

He says the refunds are possible because tuition in the state is so low and hasn't been raised in Florida since he became governor.

Department of Education Commissioner Manny Diaz, Jr. says "Florida is setting an example for the rest of the nation for ensuring students can access higher education without taking on high amounts of debt."

Florida Prepaid started 35 years ago and allows families to lock in future tuition costs at today's prices.

Thanks to fiscal prudence DeSantis says now the leftover funds can be used to pay for out-of-state education and trade schools.
