Hurricane Helene Intensifies As It Nears Florida's Gulf Coast

Hurricane Helene expected to intensify quickly into a Category 3 storm. Hugh Willoughby with the Florida Commission on Hurricane Loss Projection Methodology says Helene is aggressively being fueled by two things as it nears Florida. He says when storms churn in the current, they keep drawing in new, hotter water for longer than in other areas. Several storms have followed this track like Idalia, Ida, Ian and Irma. Helene is projected to hit the Gulf Coast with 15 feet of storm surge.
