Miami Beach, FL - Motorists in Miami Beach can breathe a sigh of relief as the city has announced that previously planned parking fee increases for both residents and visitors have been scrapped.

The move comes after the city previously announced a scheduled increase in parking rates every five years.

This hike, originally slated to take effect on October 1st, 2024, would have seen on-street parking in South Beach rise from $4 to $6 per hour for non-residents.

Additionally, residents would have seen a $1 increase across the board for on-street parking, garages, and surface lots.

"We're pleased to announce that the planned parking fee increase will not be implemented," said a spokesperson for the City of Miami Beach. "We understand the importance of affordability for both residents and visitors, and we believe this decision is in the best interest of our community."

This news is sure to be welcomed by those who frequent Miami Beach.

Parking in the popular tourist destination can already be a challenge, and the proposed increase would have added another layer of cost for visitors.
