Ironically, Dania Beach postpones groundbreaking on a 32-million-dollar drainage project due to Hurricane Helene. Public Services Director Fernando Rodriguez says this is the largest project in city history with a pumping station to be built near Southeast 3rd Street and 5th Avenue, 5-thousand linear feet of solid drainage pipes and twelve injection wells. The goal is to alleviate the flooding. Construction is expected to take three years thanks to state, county and city funding.
