    Coast Guard Rescues Person From Sailboat As Hurricane Helene Hits Florida

    Sanibel, FL - The United States Coast Guard (USCG) rescued a man and his dog from a sailboat on Thursday as Hurricane Helene approached the coast of Southwest Florida.

    According to the USCG's Southeast Division, a person and their dog were rescued from a sailboat that was found adrift 20 miles off the coast of Sanibel Island on Thursday.

    The rescue operation was initiated around 3 PM.

    The Coast Guard helicopter successfully rescued the individual and their pet, moving both to safety.

    The helicopter landed at the Southwest Florida International Airport.

    No further details regarding Thursday's rescue have been released at this time.
