Brevard County, FL - A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after allegedly making a threatening comment about shooting up a Brevard County school on social media.

The threat came to the attention of authorities when the FBI alerted the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office to a TikTok comment that stated, “I’m shootin this school up.”

The General Crimes Unit, in collaboration with the Office of District and School Security, launched an investigation into the threat.

The 15-year-old suspect was identified and arrested on charges of electronic or written threats to kill.

He was interviewed by law enforcement and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey says the boy claimed that he was encouraged by a friend to make the threatening comment.

Ivey emphasized the serious consequences of online threats and urged parents to have conversations with their children about the importance of responsible online behavior.
