    Milton: Miami-Dade and Broward County Information

    In Broward County:

    Most of County Government is open for business through Wednesday until 12PM, closing Thursday, and reopening for business on Friday at 6AM. Exceptions include:

    • All waterside activity at Port Everglades ceased at 12:01AM Tuesday, by order of the Coast Guard. Port Everglades landside activities including loading of fuel trucks will continue Tuesday and Wednesday for as long as conditions remain safe to do so.
    • By order of the Coast Guard, State operated drawbridges were locked in the “down" position at noon on Tuesday. Broward County's three drawbridges will begin to be locked in the “down" position at 11PM Tuesday, and the lockdown will be complete by 1AM Wednesday.
    • Broward County Transit has experienced one route detour due to localized flooding near Hollywood Beach. Customer and media alerts have been issued. Community Shuttle service in Deerfield Beach (Express I and II Route) has been suspended for Wednesday, October 9 and possibly Thursday. Pembroke Pines has suspended all forms of transportation, including Community Shuttle service, as of 5PM Tuesday and will resume operations on Friday, October 11 at 8AM. Community shuttle service in Tamarac is suspended for October 9 and 10.
    • As always in a weather emergency, those who are traveling over the next few days should contact their airline and/or cruise line for latest operating updates for transportation leaving from and arriving at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), North Perry Airport (HWO) and Port Everglades (PEV). Delays are possible.

    • Parks & Recreation Division's Public Participation Forum, scheduled for Thursday, October 10 at 7PM at Plantation Heritage Park, will be rescheduled to a future date. For more Parks updates, click here .
    • The Broward Municipal Services District (BMSD) is distributing sand bags to BMSD residents Wednesday from 8AM to noon at Reverend Samuel Delevoe Memorial Park, 2520 N.W. Sixth Street in Fort Lauderdale. Up to six bags per residence. Sandbags will be provided and shovels will be available for use.
    • Bulk pick-ups for residents of the Broward Municipal Services District (BMSD) have been canceled for the rest of the week. All other residents scheduled for bulk pick-ups for this week should contact their municipality for updates. Contact Municipality

    Residents are reminded to be vigilant for flash flooding and tornadic activity and follow safety precautions.

    In Miami-Dade County:

    Commission on Ethics and Public Trust

    • The meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 9 has been canceled.

    Police

    • Miami-Dade Police Department's Sexual Offender and Predator office is closed from Tuesday, Oct. 8 through Thursday, Oct. 10, reopening on Friday, Oct. 11. If you are currently reporting as transient and were scheduled to come in on this date, you must report to the office by Thursday, Oct. 17. A shelter for sex offenders is available at 3501 NW 46th Street, Miami, FL 33142.

    Public Defender

    • The Public Defender offices are currently closed.

    Public Housing and Community Development

    Regulatory and Economic Resources

    • The Environmental Control Quality Board (EQCB) public hearing scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 10 has been canceled.

    Water and Sewer Department (WASD) administrative offices and customer service centers will close for in-person business on Wednesday, Oct. 9, and Thursday, Oct. 10, to prioritize the safety of both customers and employees. Customers can still manage services like bill payments and starting or stopping service online . The department's Emergency Communications Call Center remains open 24/7 to assist with any infrastructure emergencies—call 305-274-9272 for support.
