ST. PETERSBURG -- As adults deal with the stress and losses from Hurricanes Helene and Milton, they need to watch for signs that their young children need help with all the disruption.

Many families have been forced to move, at least temporarily, and routines have been disrupted by Helene and Milton. Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital psychology director Dr. Jennifer Katzenstein says it's important to get habits back on track, restoriing habits and expectations of good behavior.

Katzenstein says younger children may display stress by showing anxiety about family members or pets, or about potential future storms. Adolescents may become more irritable than usual. She says it's important for parents to show that they're doing all they can to keep children safe.
