(Key Biscayne, FL) - Mediation begins today between attorneys for the Miami Seaquarium and Miami-Dade County.

Judge Michael Barket denied the county's motion to evict the Seaquarium opening the door for confidential mediation which is binding if both sides agree.

If there is no agreement, trial has been set for 2025.

The county moved to close down the Key Biscayne attraction owned by the Dolphin Company due to problems with animal care and park upkeep.

Representatives for the Seaquarium say the violations have been rectified and that the county's effort to evict them doesn't pass "the smell test."
