A Palm Beach County woman warns of a Facebook scam.

"I was walking my dog and all of a sudden my phone started to go off."

Michele Eassa tells CBS 12 News that friends were asking about several homes in Louisville, Kentucky that were listed for rent on Facebook Marketplace through her account and none of them were in English.

"I do not speak Spanish. I wish I did, but I have no idea what that says."

Eassa was locked out of her account.

She first turned to Louisville Police who told her to reach out to Palm Beach Gardens Police and officers told her it happens often.

Tech expert Craig Agranoff says that consumers need to stay vigilant: never pay directly through bank or wire transfer, ask for a seller's photo ID, and insist on meeting in a public place.

"I always try to meet people at the local police station lobby."

He says if someone refuses to do so, you're best not to do business with them.
