Some residents in Avoca and a state representative are voicing concerns about a waste transfer station that could possibly be built in Avoca. An LLC requested a special exception to allow the development of a waste transfer station off of Pittston Avenue and Main Street.  State Representative Jim Haddock (D-118), the former mayor of Avoca says that with the history of industrial plants burning waste in Avoca, the fear and frustration from residents is justified.   An emergency Avoca borough council meeting is scheduled to be held Wednesday at the Queen of Apostles Parish at 6:30 for the council to hear a presentation from the company and to address residents' concerns.
