    Two Henrico County Schools Closed Monday Due to Power Outages

    Henrico County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Two Henrico County Public Schools closed Monday, August 19 as a result of storm-related power outages.

    Maybeury Elementary School closed Monday as a result of power outages in the area from severe storms that hit over the weekend. The first day of school for students — which was originally Monday — has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 20.

    Douglas S. Freeman High School also closed Monday due to a power outage, according to a post to social media by the school system . Students were reportedly dismissed at 9:30 a.m.

    As of 10 a.m. on Monday, over 2,000 homes and businesses are without power in Henrico County.

    Estimated times of restoration vary due to various projects throughout the area, according to Dominion Energy.
