When Lisa and Jay were approached by producer Paul LeClair and introduced to Tony's coach, Brian Hoddle, they immediately recognized the potential for a powerful feature film.

Q: How did you conceive the idea of writing a script about Tony Volpentest?

A: For quite some time, Lisa and I have been writing major film scripts as a team as well as being dedicated to media and entertainment development. We specialize in true life subjects that have compelling stories with great entertainment value. After receiving writing awards at major film festivals for “The Music Men” and “Kids on the Hill” our writing style was recognized by key players in the film industry. We received a phone call from one of our industry colleagues and producer, Mr. Paul LeClair who had been contacted by Tony Volpentest’s previous influential coach, Mr. Brian Hoddle. Mr. LeClair was aware of our writing style and approach to unique true-life stories and introduced us to Mr. Hoddle who inspired us with Tony’s amazing story. We saw an influential story and immediately knew this was a great project for us. Shortly thereafter, we met with Tony and together we forged a creative relationship and developed a wonderful friendship that resulted in the emergence of his amazing story called “The Push”.

Q: What inspired the both of you to delve into the project?

A: When we were first contacted as possible candidates to write Tonys inspiring story, it took some time to get to know him and research his history and story. However, it didn’t take long for us to be completely inspired and motivated to be part of his legacy and make sure it was done right. We know this was a difficult decision for Tony to decide whom he wanted to take on the project and we’re honored he gave us the opportunity. We are extremely grateful that Tony chose us to write “The Push” and feel we’re better people and writers because of it.

Q: What is the timeline for the project?

A: The movie’s production is currently in the ramp up stage which takes time to complete. We are pleased that a major Director and Production company in Hollywood we are excited to take on Tony’s story and is taking the movie to the next phase. We anticipate the completed movie to be ready within 24 to 36 months and anticipate it to be released prior to the next Paralympics that will be held in Los Angeles.

Q: What message do you want to share from the film?

A: “THE PUSH” movie is a heartfelt story for all ages. Tony Volpentest’s remarkable journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, determination, and an unwavering belief in one’s potential. Born without hands and feet, Tony faced challenges that would seem insurmountable to most. However, he refused to let his physical limitations define him. Instead, Tony harnessed his indomitable spirit to become one of the most celebrated athletes in Paralympic history. His story is an exciting and feel-good story about him and his family and friends help him though many adversities that helps inspire Tony to reach incredible heights regardless of his limitations. It is a story to remember that will stand the test of time for future generations to learn to overcome the obstacle of life and win.
