After investigating, it was revealed that 21-year-old, Carla Mendez of Odessa was the operator of a silver Honda Civic that was traveling westbound in the 1400 block of East 42nd St. for unknown reasons.
Texas firefighters save kittens from house fire caused by lightning strike
BARTONVILLE, Texas — Two North Texas kittens were saved from a house fire reported to be caused by a lightning strike on Saturday morning. Denton County Emergency Services District No. 1 said its firefighters responded at approximately 8:52 a.m. Saturday to the 1000 Block of Timberidge Lane in the town of Bartonville for a structure fire. Crews found a light haze of smoke in the garage, and during their investigation of the fire, found two kittens in the garage.

Midland ISD to expand international teachers program
MIDLAND, Texas — Midland ISD plans to bring fresh faces to teaching roles in the district, some coming from as far as out of the country. “We're trying to grow the program. We have in the past recruited one or two teachers from out of country, but this year we're starting a new program with cultural exchange programs," said Nelly Jimenez, recruitment and retention coordinator at MISD.
