Alabama students target international rocketry crown at Farnborough
A team of high school students from Alabama will compete for global honors in rocket building at the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow. Woodstock 5K: Run and Win the Alabama Championship
ANNISTON — The 43rd annual Woodstock 5K will again serve as the Alabama 5K Championship, as sanctioned by the Road Runners Club of America. The Woodstock 5K is scheduled for Aug. 3 at Anniston High School along Woodstock Avenue It has played host for 17 RRCA championship races, including six national championships, five regional championships and six state championships. The race is organized by the Anniston Runners Club, a local non-profit organization.

DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - An official at GE Appliances has confirmed an employee was killed after an incident at the plant in Decatur on Wednesday. “The GE Appliances team is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our employees this morning at our Decatur refrigeration plant,” spokeswoman Julie Wood said. “We are working with local law enforcement to understand the cause of this tragic accident and contacting the family of the employee to offer our assistance.”

Widespread Storms Possible This Afternoon
SYNOPSIS – Showers and thunderstorms have stayed fairly scattered each afternoon to kick off the work week, but expect to see the coverage of rain take a noticeable step up into this afternoon. Better Gulf moisture and the very slow arrival of a front will help to bring more of an increase of showers and storms into the region today, then gradually drier air starts to filter in and bring down those rain chances to close out the work week. We’ll still see some showers and storms into the weekend, but it’ll look a lot more like our typical summertime pattern where most cells will be few and far between. That will help temperatures turn a little warmer as well.
