Lake Catholic at Cardinal Mooney football: Preview capsule for Aug. 23 game
Where: Stambaugh Stadium, 577 5th Ave., Youngstown at Youngstown State University. For the record: Lake Catholic had a memorable 2023, going 10-3 and advancing to the third round of the Division III playoffs. But the season started off with a loss to Mooney, and the Cougars certainly remember that. Lake returns a wealth of talent and starters from last year’s team, including 3,200-yard passer Frankie Trinetti, 77-catch receiver Ace Peterlin and Minnesota recruit Cross Nimmo at tight end. Coach Carl Pelini’s Cardinals had a summer QB battle between Keith Rhodes and Vince Gentile. Carlos Gomez is back to lead the receiving unit. All-Ohio DB Dennis Clark leads the defense.
Aurora football hopes experience will aid effort to defend conference banner
The Aurora Greenmen football team’s success has always been fueled by their senior classes. Cleveland killer gets 4 life terms for slaughter of family members
CLEVELAND, Ohio – A Cleveland man was sentenced to four life terms in prison Thursday for the slaughter of four family members last year. Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Andrew Santoli ordered that Martin Muniz would serve the sentences without the chance of parole. Santoli made the determination after Muniz, 42, pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated murder and one count of attempted aggravated murder.
