NEWTON, Kan. (KSNW) — The City of Newton is closing two playgrounds next week so workers can repair the rubber surfacing.

The contractor will start on Tuesday, July 9, with the playground at Lincoln Park. Then, on Wednesday, July 10, the workers will focus on the northeast playground at Athletic Park.

The City will fence off the playgrounds until the surfacing product has cured. The playgrounds are expected to reopen no later than Friday, July 12.

Until then, the City has other playgrounds for children, including at Caperland Park, Centennial Park, Havens Park, Okerberg Park, and Plumbrook Park.
