Rox Diner Expands with Second Location in Newton Highlands

A beloved West Roxbury diner is expanding its footprint.

Rox Diner will soon open its second location at 4 Hartford St in Newton Highlands , taking over the former site of The Dining Car Café and Market. Owner Johnny Fortin told What Now Boston that while a firm grand opening date has not yet been set, he anticipates welcoming diners to the new location in early June 2024.

Founded in 2007, the original Rox Diner is known for its made-from-scratch breakfast and lunch comfort classics, featuring favorites like omelets, pancakes, French toast, sandwiches, salads, and wraps. The diner sources all its ingredients locally, prioritizing fresh, organic produce and goods.

In addition to Rox Diner, Fortin also owns The Grateful Dedham Diner in Dedham and The Toast Office in Westwood. Though there was a previous Rox Diner in Newton, it unfortunately closed during the pandemic.

The menu at the forthcoming Newton Highlands location will feature some new additions while staying true to the original Rox Diner’s commitment to quality and local sourcing. According to Newton real estate agent Alison Haran, the new diner will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering televisions and seating for up to 26 guests.
